On Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., the HMS Drama Club will perform “May the Farce Be With You” in the HMS Auditorium.
On Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., the Haddonfield Middle School Drama Club will perform, “May the Farce Be With You,” in the HMS Auditorium, under directors Mr. Johnathan Maxson, Ms. Rose Neufeld, and Stage Crew director Erika Gehringer.
“May the Farce Be With You,” a screwball comedy written by David Rogers, tells the classic tale of good vs. evil, with some humorous and unexpected twists. Seventh grade student Julia Bono, who plays the ladies athletic director Vera Strong, stated, “The story has a lot of twists that will keep people on the edge of their seat.”
The sci-fi comedy chronicles a health spa in New Mexico called Old McDonald’s farm. The staff at the spa are preparing for their annual conference in which the Elite Idealistic Earth Individuals Organization (E.I.E.I.O) are coming in to plan ways to rid the earth of evil.
Their trip is ruined when the intergalactic villain Star Raider sabotages the E.I.E.I.O and goes through with his plans to destroy the universe. The E.I.E.I.O’s fate rests in the hands of two unlikely superheroes, who are who are heavy on brainpower but short on brawn.
The cast and crew of the play have had a blast preparing this show. Ms. Rose Neufeld, co-director said, “I loved sharing all the laughs with these kids.”
The cast members aren’t the only ones hard at work though. The stage crew has been building sets, creating costumes, designing posters and collecting props. Caroline Deegan, stage manager of the fall play states, “Every person is good at their own individual thing.” All the talent of the cast and crew have paid off.
