Do Something: Halloween activities take over the region

There will be no shortage of Halloween events for residents to enjoy on Saturday and Sunday.

Halloween is just a few days away and there will be plenty of chances for residents of all ages to get dressed up in costume and enjoy spooky activities this weekend. Find out which events are taking place around the region.

Around Sicklerville

  • Dare to meander the spooky path plagued with ghosts and ghoul along Psycho Trail. But watch out — while you’re keeping an eye out for the paranormal, a screwball armed with a chainsaw could strike. There is no charge for the trail, but any offerings will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Located at 311 Harrison Ave. in Blackwood, the trail is open Oct, 27 28, 29, and 31 from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Stop by Gloucester Township’s annual Trunk or Treat tonight at 7 p.m. Enjoy a spooktacular time as friends, neighbors and community members decorate their trunks, passing out candy to ghouls and goblins at Veterans Park.   • Tomorrow, garbed in goblin, ghost and ghoul costumes, residents will enjoy treats, games and a screening of Tim Burton’s eerily entrancing “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” which is set to start 6 p.m the Gloucester Township Recreation Center, located at 80 Broadacres Drive in Clementon. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs. This event is free to all residents. They are asked to bring a nonperishable food item that will be donated to local food banks. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Around South Jersey

  • Tonight, the Voorhees Town Center will host Thriller Night from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.The evening of festivities includes a screening of a Halloween movie and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video on the big screen outside. There will also be face painting, balloon animals and special visits from some despicable minions.
  • Voorhees Town Center will be decked out for Halloween on Saturday as the Voorhees Township Halloween Festival takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. The event includes a slew of activities, including hayrides, a costume parade, pumpkin picking, a balloon artist, magic show and more.   • The Third Annual Ashley Paul Memorial Foundation Halloween Costume ‘Run for your Life’ 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday 9 a.m., rain or shine at Eastern Regional High School. All proceeds benefit the Ashley Paul Memorial Foundation.
  • The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) is hosting “Howl-o-ween Trunk or Treat” on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the AWA located at 509 Centennial Blvd. This free event is for kids and their (leashed well-behaved) dogs. There will be candy for kids and treats for dogs, including allergen free candy. “Howl-o-ween Trunk or Treat” will also include a costume contest for kids and dogs.
  • Cherry Hill High School West’s fall play, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” will be performed at the high school auditorium this weekend. Performances are scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and students and $10 for senior citizens.   • Residents of all ages are invited to the Cherry Hill Public Library on Saturday to partake in Chinese Maker Day. Activities will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be crafting, Chinese calligraphy and painting, food making, games, Chinese face painting and a photo booth. The event is free to attend. For more information, visit www.chplnj.org.An annual Halloween tradition returns to Medford this weekend as the Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club hosts its 71st annual Halloween Parade on Saturday. The parade will travel down Main Street in Medford beginning at 7 p.m. The parade begins at St. Mary of the Lakes School and will travel south down Main Street, ending at the Haines Fifth Grade Center.   • Guests can learn about some haunted history in Washington Township on Saturday. The Washington Township Historic Commission and NJROPE will host Halloween Adventures: An After Hours Tour from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at The Olde Stone House Village, located at 208 Egg Harbor Road in Sewell. At the Jersey Shore

  • Halloween arrives at the Cape May County Zoo on Saturday at its annual Boo at the Zoo event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests of all ages are invited to dress in costume and partake in games, candy, entertainment, a magic show, a live animal show and more. There will be a costume contest beginning at 11 a.m., with registration at 10 a.m. The magic show is scheduled for 1 p.m., with the animal show right after. The event is free to attend.   • Stone Harbor will host its Kids’ Harvest Festival on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the downtown shopping district.   • On Sunday, the Berlin Borough Celebration Committee will host a Halloween Party and Parade from 1 to 3 p.m. on the White Horse Pike.The fall festivities will include an afternoon of costume contests, games, prizes and cookie decorating with Maggie’s Bake Shop. There will also be a pumpkin patch courtesy of Genevieve Haldeman of BH Realtors.Music will be provided by DJ Rich of GP Entertainment.
  • In Philadelphia
  • Enjoy a slew of Halloween-themed activities in Manayunk this weekend. Halloween in Manayunk will take place along Main Street from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include a children and dog costume parade at 10:30 a.m., trick-or-treating along Main Street and a corn maze at Venice Island.   • Prince of Peace Church in Philadelphia will be hosting its annual Fall Festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be lots of food and beverage options to choose from, as well as shopping, prizes, raffles and more. Prince of Peace Church is located at 6001 Colgate Street in Philadelphia. The event will be held indoors and is free to attend.
