Girls Soccer remains atop of Freedom Division standings
Palmyra girls soccer has bounced back nicely from a Sept. 29 defeat at Morristown Friends, by drawing and winning their opening two matches of October.
The Lady Panthers drew 3–3 at home vs. Pitman High School on Oct. 2 Lily Beck led the team with a hat-trick, while goalkeeper Maura Scott made nine saves.
A day later saw Palmyra roll past Pennsauken 7–0 away from home, Madison Conroy and Madison Hartman each tallied two goals apiece, while three teammates also got on the scoresheet. Kirstan Berger made four saves in between the posts for Palmyra.
Palmyra (9–2–1), is next in action on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 3:45 p.m. vs. Burlington City.
Boys Soccer continuing their push for a Freedom Division title
The Palmyra boys soccer team is continuing their push for a division title, after a 3–0 victory over New Egypt on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Raj Bankal, Jeff Elliot, and Gio Narhwold each scored in the win. Goalkeeper Liam Brett made three saves in the shutout.
It was a good sense of character after the Panthers suffered their first loss of the season, four days prior. Palmyra (10–1) next faces Burlington City on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 3:45 p.m.
Palmyra Football preparing for huge Freedom Division clash vs. Florence
The Palmyra Panthers football team has found the last two weeks to be tough, falling in back-to-back games. After two straight victories to start the 2017 season, Palmyra has fallen to New Egypt and Penns Grove respectively.
Quarterback Taj Harris has thrown for 575 yards and six touchdowns so far in four games. Running back Elijah Karnjay (808 total yards, 8 T.D.’s) has been the Panthers best rusher and receiver so far this season.
On Friday, Oct. 6 Palmyra faces off with Freedom Division rival Florence at Matt Curtis Stadium looking to get back on track. Florence (1–2) is coming off a 14–7 road loss against Holy Cross last weekend, and will be licking their chops to get back on the winning track as well.
Florence rolled their way to a 54–0 victory in this game last season, and has a deadly rushing attack waiting in the wings.
