At noon on Tuesday, Oct. 3, Trinity Episcopal Church in Moorestown will toll their tower bell more than 50 times for each person who has died as a result of the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, Oct. 1. Trinity joins Episcopal Churches in Nevada, across New Jersey and around the country in this ritual of public mourning.
“When a tragedy of this magnitude happens in our country, it is important to mark our shared grief with public ritual,” said the Rev. Emily Mellott, Rector of Trinity. “For centuries, the tolling of church bells has signaled mourning, and called communities to honor the dead, and comfort the living.”
