Council votes against zone changes on Hurffville Cross Keys Road
At last week’s meeting, council voted against an ordinance changing the zoning of a Hurffville Cross Keys Road property from rural to commercial industrial, which had been topic of concern for many residents in attendance. Many members of the public at the Aug. 23 council meeting spoke to the township administration about their objections to the zoning change, worried for the health of the township’s safe water supply. Council had tabled the ordinance to last week’s meeting.
Local students raise funds for flood victims with Tea for Texas fundraising stand
Inspired by the images of destruction in Texas, and feeling worrisome for those in Florida, siblings Luke, 8, Kit, 7, and Becca Ridgeway, 6, teamed with neighbor Faith Antell, 7, and their families to give back to those who may have lost everything. For three hours each day on Friday, Sept. 8, Saturday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 10, the Wedgwood Elementary School students raised funds for flood victims in Texas by selling iced tea, lemonade and baked goods at their Tea for Texas street-side stand.
Washington Twp. boys soccer seniors preach hard work, dedication in preseason
Washington Township High School boys soccer has the chance to continue building a strong legacy in 2017. The Minutemen enter the season as the three-time defending South Jersey Group IV champions and have won the NJSIAA Group IV state championship in two of the past three seasons. However, Washington Township isn’t looking ahead to a possible title defense. They’re instead focused on the regular season and playing at a high level on a consistent basis.
