The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride — Haddonfield Chapter will take place on Sunday, Sept. 24 and raise money for men’s health.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, Downtown Haddonfield will welcome “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride — Haddonfield Chapter,” a money-raising trek to the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville from Gorshin Trading Post & Supplies on Kings Highway.
Participants will depart from Gorshin Trading Post & Supplies at 9 a.m. and travel to New Jersey Motorsports Park for a victory lap around the race track.
The Haddonfield Chapter is one of tens of thousands of distinguished gentlefolk in hundreds of cities worldwide who will don their cravats, tweak their moustaches, press their tweed and sit astride their classic and vintage-styled motorcycles to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and men’s mental health.
“Sometimes bikers get a bad rap so the idea of a Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is very appealing,” said the Partnership for Haddonfield’s John Picking, who is participating in the event. “Most motorcycle riders are, in fact, gentle folk. I’m looking forward to this day of fine food, distinguished attire and a good ride.”
George Evearts, owner of Evearts Galleries and Appraisers is also joining in the ride.
“It’s all about community — we dress up in dapper attire and ride together, but the goal of raising awareness for men’s cancer and mental health is the real motivation and reward,” Evearts said.
Mitch Gorshin, owner of Gorshin Trading Post & Supplies, participates in the Philadelphia ride every year, and founded the Haddonfield chapter to bring the ride to South Jersey for the first time this year.
“Gorshin Trading Post is proud to be the official host for this global ride that originated right here in Haddonfield,” Gorshin said. “As of now, we have 24 riders participating, but we’re hoping to have many more sign up. It will be fun to see the vintage bikes in front of our shop and for folks to come and have a look at the riders and machines.”
