Mother-son team gives back with haircuts

Hairstylist Bobbi Groves, barber Rob Groves Jr. volunteer at back-to-school event

Rob Groves Jr. and his mom Bobbi Groves recently volunteered their hair-styling skills at a back-to-school event.

On Sunday, Aug. 27, Bobbi Groves, a hairstylist from In The Village Salon and Spa in Mullica Hill, and her son Rob Groves Jr., a barber, were honored to volunteer their time at the Glassboro VFW, for The Angels Community Outreach of Pitman.

They donated many haircuts to students in need.

“I was forever grateful for this experience to help others with my natural talent,” Rob said. “It was an honor. The kids from ages 5–17 were so kind and expressed their appreciation.”

More than 500 children came to the Angels Community Outreach program to receive their school supplies, new shoes, underware, clothing, haircuts and a meal. Thanks to surrounding communities donating time and supplies, the event was a success.

The Angels of God Community Outreach, a nonprofit organization, was first founded in July 2009 by a 12-year-old girl named Katelyn Darrow who had a dream and since then has been on a successful mission.
