Local animal shelters welcome dogs displaced by Hurricane Harvey

Escaping the flooded streets of South Texas, canines are making cross-country trips to Voorhees.

Local animal shelters, including the Voorhees Animal Orphanage and Animal Welfare Association, have collaborated with St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center to transport more than 100 pets endangered by the aftermath of the storm. They arrived Tuesday morning at Morristown Municipal Airport.

After eating, sleeping and exercising at St. Hubert’s Madison Campus, they’ll be dispersed and transferred to over a dozen sister shelters throughout the Northeast this week, including the two Voorhees locations.
