Proposed Cherry Hill Township FY 2018 municipal budget includes tax cut

Cherry Hill Township residents could be paying less in municipal taxes in Fiscal Year 2018. On Monday night, Cherry Hill Township Council approved the township’s Fiscal Year 2018 municipal budget on first reading. The preliminary budget includes a reduction in municipal taxes of approximately $22 for the average homeowner. The second reading and public hearing on the budget is scheduled for Sept. 25.

Monmouth County man arrested for sexually assaulting Cherry Hill girl

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Cherry Hill Police and other law enforcement agencies announced the arrest of a 20-year-old West Long Branch man who was charged with 22 criminal offenses, including the sexual assault of a 12-year-old Cherry Hill girl. Anthony Woods was arrested at his home last Tuesday and charged with a variety of offenses, including sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The offenses occurred on multiple dates between May 1 and July 1, in Merchantville and Cherry Hill.

Katz JCC’s P.A.L.S. program continues to grow after five years

Last week, 11 teens and young adults spent their time enjoying numerous fun activities as part of the Peers using AAC for Language and Socialization, or P.A.L.S. program. This weeklong summer program is specially designed for multiply disabled teens and young adults who are nonverbal and communicate using an augmentative communication device. The program celebrated its fifth anniversary last week.

Portion of Kresson Road to close this weekend for construction

A small stretch of Kresson Road in Cherry Hill Township is closed to traffic this weekend. Kresson Road between Haddonfield Road and Brace Road is currently closed due to deep sanitary sewer construction. Only local traffic is being permitted on the road. The closure is expected to last until Monday. Motorists are asked to detour at the intersection of Haddonfield and Brace Road until the closure is lifted.

Brian Dawkins announced as keynote speaker at 2017 Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner

A former Philadelphia Eagle will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner. Brian Dawkins will appear at the seventh annual dinner, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 13. The JCC also announced Dr. Merrick Wetzler, Haley Cohen and Ken Hoffman will be honored with awards at this year’s event. General admission seats are available to the public and can be purchased at www.katzjcc.org/sportsward.
