Pomona Swim Club ends perfect season with Tri-County Championship
Coming into the 2017 summer swimming season, the Pomona Swim Club was looking to be competitive in Division A of the Tri-County Swim League. After winning Division B in 2016, Head Coach Danielle Willard knew the team was going to be an underdog in the top division. With the likes of four-time consecutive champs Wedgewood, Wenonah, Deerbrook, Green-Fields and Pheasant Run to compete with, Pomona knew it would be a tough go-around. On Sunday, Aug 6, Pomona capped off a perfect season winning the 2017 Tri-County Championship in Wenonah. It was the Cinnaminson Swim Club’s first-ever Tri-County title, and its best finish since a second-place finish in 1967.
Cinnaminson Blood Drive helping others during challenging time
During the summer months, people are out doing a variety of things. Some are at the beach, while others are on vacation in other places. The need for blood donations doesn’t stop no matter the circumstances. On Aug. 4, the Cinnaminson Police Department paired with the American Red Cross for a blood drive at the Cinnaminson Community Center.Running from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the blood drive totaled 41 units of blood.
Riverton Country Club set to host fundraising Golf Tournament
Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, type 47, otherwise known as “SPG47”, is an ultra-rare newly recognized neurodegenerative disease, resembling cerebral palsy. There are just four confirmed cases of this disease in the United States. One of those cases is Molly, the daughter of Riverton Country Club’s Head Golf Professional, Kevin Duffy and his wife Angela. Riverton Country Club has organized a fundraising golf tournament on September 12, 2017 to raise awareness for the disease and funds to push the much-needed research forward.
