Rev. Cory Jones continuing the work that god wanted him to do
The career of a minister can be both tiresome and rewarding. Other than leading worship services, a minister is a figurehead in the community setting positive examples for everyone else. The Rev. Cory Jones of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington Township has been setting positive examples for not only his congregation but in past congregations as well. “When I was 15 years old, I received the call,” Jones said. “Once I began my college career, I decided to dive deeper in the studies of religion and the ministry. My mother has always been an inspiration and she prayed that if God gave her a son, she would give him back to God.”
Burlington Township’s Kyle Sutera earns Eagle Scout Award
For 18-year-old Kyle Sutera, being a member of a team has always been in his life’s plans. Sutera joined the Cub Scouts at the age of 7 and later crossed over to Boy Scouts Troop 764 when he was 10 years old. Earlier this year, Sutera joined three other Boy Scouts in earning their Eagle Scout Award, the highest achievement for a Boy Scout. According to Troop 764 Committee Chair Tom Jones, only 6 percent of Boy Scouts obtain the Eagle Scout Award. A boy must earn 21 merit badges, 13 of which are required in areas such as cooking, environmental science, emergency preparedness, first aid, citizenship and others.
Warrant Arrest leads to recovery of several firearms, narcotics, and money
On Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at approximately 8:44 p.m., officers from the Burlington Township Police Department stopped a motor vehicle that was being operated by a 26-year-old male from Burlington. During that stop, the male was arrested on an outstanding harassment complaint out of Westampton, NJ, and he was turned over to officers from that jurisdiction for processing. Subsequent to the male’s arrest, officers responded to his residence in the unit block of Tattersall Drive in Burlington Township, NJ, where a search resulted in the recovery of several items.
Burlington County Health Department offering free radon test kits
“The Burlington County Health Department is working with The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to bring increased awareness to the public on the risks of radon,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio. “Radon is an odorless and colorless gas that can cause lung cancer,” added Garganio. “According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and is responsible for about 21,000 lung cancer deaths every year. About 2,900 of these deaths occur among people who have never smoked.”
