First-ever Jewish education program and Shabbat services come to Moorestown
To date, Moorestown has never had a synagogue in town. MJA was founded as a way to bring these scattered Jewish families together. Now, the MJA is currently trying to get the word out about the first-ever Shabbat services and Jewish education program in Moorestown, which is being brought to town by the nonprofit Beiteinu, which means “our house” in Hebrew.Prior to last year, if Jewish families wanted to educate their children in Jewish tradition, there were no options in town, Deibler said. For that reason, the MJA wanted to give Moorestown’s Jewish community a place where young students could learn about Judaism’s rich history alongside the same kids they attend school with during the day.
Welcome Families Program connecting Moorestown families
Starting at a new school can be tough at any age. For that reason, each year the Welcome Families Program, run through the Moorestown Home and School Association, creates opportunities for incoming students to meet and greet their fellow new students prior to the start of school in hopes of relieving some of the new school anxiety. Each school in the district has its own representative, and Goldglantz-Lance acts as district chair. She said the program is not just about connecting students but parents as well.
Six candidates face off for four seats in Nov. BOE election
Four candidates will be running for three seats spanning a three-year term in the November board of education election for the Moorestown school district. Additionally, two candidates are running for one seat that spans a two-year, unexpired term, according to the Burlington County Clerk’s office. Incumbent Peter Palko will run for re-election against challengers Lauren Romano, Jack F. Fairchild and Tinamarie Nicolo‐Dorfner for the three, three-year term positions. Incumbent Mark D. Villanueva will run against Kameron K. Rabenou for the one, two-year unexpired term. The school board elections will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7 along with the the general election.
