Five candidates file to run for three seats on Cherry Hill Board of Education
There will be a contested Cherry Hill Board of Education election this fall as five candidates have filed to run for three seats on the board. According to the Camden County Clerk’s office, incumbents Eric Goodwin, Carol Matlack and Lisa Saidel will each run for re-election this fall. Fredrick Dande and Sally Tong will oppose the three incumbents.
One killed, two injured after motorcycle collides with car in Cherry Hill
A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured last Thursday night after a crash on North Kings Highway. At about 8:40 p.m., three motorcycles were traveling along North Kings Highway when one of the bikes collided with a 2005 Lexus ES car. The motorcyclist died in the accident and his bike crashed into another motorcyclist, with that rider sustaining minor injuries. The driver of the Lexus also suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Willowdale continues to dominate in the boys 11–12 relay events at Cherry Bowl
Willowdale Swim Club has been a dominant force in the boys 11–12 relay events the last two Cherry Bowls. For the second straight year at the 2017 Cherry Bowl meet, Willowdale set new records in both the boys 11–12 medley and freestyle relay events. The team of Alex Crumpton, Jack Kramer, Ryan Cortes and Josh Seidman set the new records this year.
James Tao’s lightning fast swim ends with new Cherry Bowl record
Old Orchard Swim Club’s James Tao has become one of the most versatile youth swimmers in Cherry Hill. For the second straight year at Cherry Bowl, Tao won the boys 12-and-under 100-meter individual medley on July 29. Tao’s time of 1:07.71 broke a 22-year-old Cherry Bowl record originally set by Jeff Hoh of Cherry Valley Swim Club.
