At the Tuesday, July 18, Stephen Camiscioli was sworn in as Haddonfield’s acting lieutenant.
The tone of the Tuesday, July 18 commissioners meeting held in Borough Hall was decidedly cheery as Stephen Camiscioli was sworn in as Haddonfield’s newest acting police lieutenant.
“I’d like to say, first and foremost, we are very fortunate to have many, many fine officers in the Haddonfield Police Department,” Chief Theodore Stuessy said. “The department has been running well for many years. We’re here primarily tonight because Stephen has been very hard-working and diligent the last couple of years.”
Stuessy said Camiscioli first came to the department in 1998. Since then, he has done tours both on the streets and within the detectives bureau. It was, without question, within the detective’s bureau that Camiscioli shined, earning recognition throughout Camden County for the numerous cases he solved, Stuessy said.
“Your experience is going to serve us very well in the future,” Stuessy said.
Camiscioli is wasting no time stepping into his new role. He took the opportunity at Tuesday’s meeting to describe for those in attendance the Police Explorers Camp he’s spearheading, which starts on Monday, July 24.
The first annual four-day camp will feature a history of law enforcement, tour of the police department and hands-on crime scene processing.
“We’re going to introduce them to all aspects of law enforcement,” Camiscioli said.
Mayor Neal Rochford congratulated Camiscioli on his promotion on behalf of the commissioners.
In other news:
• Commissioners approved a resolution to extend the tax grace period. The mailing of the third quarter property tax bills has been delayed due to changes to the state budget. For that reason, commissioners set the property tax bill for the 25th day after the third quarter installment was mailed to allow residents sufficient time to pay their bills.
• Commissioners also approved a resolution to award a bid for pothole repair services to Pavings Plus, LLC.
“This is an annual contract we go out to, so we can give them lists of potholes throughout the year that they can address for us,” Commissioner John Moscatelli said.
• The next Board of Commissioners meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22 in Borough Hall.
