The cooling centers are available for Cherry Hill residents with an Excessive Heat Warning in effect through 8 p.m. tonight.
Cherry Hill Police have announced three air-conditioned facilities are open as cooling centers in the township. The centers are the Cherry Hill Mall, the Cherry Hill Public Library and the Carmen Tilelli Community Center. The community center will remain open until 5 p.m. this afternoon. The Cherry Hill Mall is open until 9:30 p.m. tonight and the Cherry Hill Public Library closes at 9 p.m. tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning with heat indexes expected to reach as high as 105 degrees today. According to weather.com, at 11:45 a.m. the temperature in Cherry Hill had already reached 93 degrees with a heat index of 100 degrees.
