M’kor Shalom holds forum on Congressional health care legislation

The forum took place on June 28 and drew more than 150 attendees.

On Wednesday, June 28, Congregation M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill hosted a forum on the health care legislation pending in Congress.

Participants in the forum included Dr. Gene Bishop, clinical professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Joshua Spielberg, chief counsel, Health Care Access Project, Legal Services of New Jersey, Kim Coffina, chair of M’kor Shalom’s Social Action Committee, Robert Field, professor of health management and policy at Drexel’s Dornsife School of Public Health, and Evelyn Liebman, associate state director, AARP New Jersey.

At the forum, participants discussed possible legislation that would cause 24 million people to lose their insurance, cut Medicaid funding by $893 billion, and provide billions in tax cuts to the wealthy. The event drew more than 150 attendees, including those who viewed it via webcast.
