Washington Township middle schools to host transition programs for new students

Students transitioning from fifth to sixth grade will have the opportunity to attend two summer programs with middle school teachers

Washington Township students transitioning from fifth to sixth grade for the start of the 2017–18 school year are invited to attend their assigned middle school for one of two summer sessions. Middle school teachers will be working with the students to ensure a smooth and successful transition to the secondary level. The program will emphasize life skills, organization and preparation, active listening and building success.

Sessions at Bunker Hill, Chestnut Ridge and Orchard Valley Middle Schools run August 1 through 3, or August 8 through 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost of the program is $30. To obtain an application, parents are invited to contact their child’s middle school guidance office.
