After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. in 1987 where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Russell came back to Linden, his family home. At the advice of his father, Russell pursued and secured positions with business equipment firms in a sales and sales training capacity.

It was at this time, he became a member of the Union League of Philadelphia. Soon, thereafter, Russell met the love of his life, Erin Lee Foley, at the Jug Handle Inn. The two bought a house in Moorestown and were married in 1994.

Russell spent a great deal of his time coaching and attending various community sports’ teams and events of his boys as well as caring for his ailing mother. After the turmoil on Wall Street in 2008 and 2009, Russell moved his practice from Smith Barney to Stifel Nicolaus and then to Wells Fargo Advisors until the time of his passing.
