Explore the Effects of the Digital World on Manners

Learn how to use proper etiquette in the digital world.

A free workshop at Medford Leas, hosted by former Manners Matter columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer Debra Nussbaum, will explore how technology has altered the world of proper manners, and how you can earn to use proper technological etiquette.

“People want to be treated politely, and how they are treated leaves a lasting impression,” said Nussbaum. “However, technology throws a monkey wrench into our navigation of the traditional rules of etiquette.”

In the workshop, Nussbaum will explore questions of etiquette in today’s digital world that often lead to conflicting answers, especially across generations. Questions include: Can e-mail replace handwritten notes to say thank you? What type of information is appropriate for sharing on social media? Is it appropriate to text and walk, text and talk or even text and dine?

Nussbaum currently works in client relations for the Weber Gallagher Law Firm. The workshop will run from 10–11 a.m. on Monday, May 22 at the Medford Campus Theater.

Pre-registration for the event is required by May 19. For a full listing of lectures and programs, or to register for a program, visit www.medfordleas.org or call 609–654–3588. E-mail non-payment registrations or questions to [email protected].
