Burlington Township High School celebrates 10 years of student volunteerism

For 10 years, Burlington Township High School has been sending students to volunteer as a part of its “Freshman Integrating Resources Service Learning Together” program. Through Project F.I.R.S.T., approximately 98 percent of the high school’s freshman class served at locations throughout Burlington Township and the surrounding areas on Friday, April 28. More than 300 students volunteered at Burlington Township Food Pantry, Endeavor Emergency Squad and 21 other locations as the culmination of Volunteer Week at the school.

Burlington Township Board of Education unanimously adopts 2017 budget

The Burlington Township School District’s $67.12 million budget passed unanimously at the Wednesday, April 26 Board of Education meeting. Of the total budget, $43.93 will be raised through taxes, and the district has adopted a general fund tax levy increase of 2 percent. For the average Burlington Township home valued at $234,510, school taxes will increase by $94.24 per year. Superintendent Mary Ann Bell said the district was pleased to be able to avoid reductions in force and reallocate resources.

Redevelopment and recognition the talk at Burlington Township council meeting

At Burlington Township Council’s meeting on Tuesday, April 25, the main topic was redevelopment. Corter said the township is dealing with properties that are old, contaminated and need to be torn down. As such, the township’s redevelopment approval process has been designed to protect not only business owners but the town, he said.
