Cherry Hill resident acting as an Angel for her husband through kidney transplant
Angel and Bert Fox have always been avid supporters of organ donations. Bert had a liver transplant in 1995 after a bout with hepatitis and was a participant in the Transplant Games for many years. When Bert found out he would need a kidney transplant last winter, he didn’t need to wait long to find a donor. Angel chose to donate one of her kidneys to her husband.
A Decade of Dancing: 10 years of Dancing with the Cherry Hill Stars
On April 29, Dancing with the Cherry Hill Stars will be held for the 10th time at Cherry Hill High School West. In honor of the show’s 10th year, the Cherry Hill Sun spoke to numerous key people who helped make the show a successful fundraiser for the Cherry Hill Education Foundation. This special three-part feature dives into the history of the event.
Eight runners from Cherry Hill complete the 2017 Boston Marathon
On Monday, more than 26,000 runners crossed the finish line in the 2017 Boston Marathon. In that group were eight residents of Cherry Hill Township. Four men and four women from Cherry Hill ran in and finished the marathon. The group includes John Arnold, Casey Coleman, Mary Jane Fast, Lawrence Liebman, Heidi Lindheim, Emalia Perry, Nathan Spencer and Christa Venturini.
A Capella groups from Cherry Hill East and West to compete in Acappella for Autism
Two Cherry Hill high school singing groups will be performing for a good cause next Saturday. Men of Note from Cherry Hill High School West and Stay Tuned from Cherry Hill High School East will be two of the nine groups performing in Acappella for Autism, taking place on Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at Moorestown High School. Proceeds from the event will go to Autism New Jersey.
Throwback Thursday: The Garden State Park fire
April 14 marked the 40th anniversary of perhaps the most well known fire in Cherry Hill Township history. On April 14, 1977, a fire burned down the original Garden State Park racetrack. Many books and media accounts detail the fire, which killed three people and injured 20 others. The fire also marked the beginning of the downfall of the racetrack.
