Weekly Roundup: A new brewery will be coming to Haddonfield

Path to a Draft

On Monday, the Haddonfield Zoning Board approved a measure, paving the way for a nanobrewery in downtown Haddonfield. It is scheduled to be located at the site of the old Gibbs Tavern. Although Haddonfield is a “dry town,” the brewery can open because it will be making its products on-site and not sell food. If the venture is successful, it could lead to more visitors to downtown Haddonfield.

Commissioner Neal Rochford to hold event to launch campaign for a third term

Current Commissioner Neal Rochford announced that he would be running for re-election for one of the borough’s three commissioner seats. Rochford, who has been a commissioner for the past eight years, announced he would be holding his fundraiser March 19. So far, all three current commissioners have announced their intention to run for re-election.

Early Entrepreneurs

This week we visited went to the Haddonfield Public Library to listen to local author Gina Crossey speak to children about entrepreneurship. Crossey, who wrote the children’s book “Gus and the Hot Chocolate Startup,” is trying to have children think about making starting their own business at a young age. It has already worked.

‘42nd Street’ heads to Kings Highway

The Haddonfield Memorial High School Drama Club will be reviving the Broadway musical 42nd Street. The theater-loving group of students has been working on this production since July. This musical will be the biggest production that the club has ever put on. The high-energy production will go on for five shows in the auditorium of the Haddonfield Memorial High School.
