Rev. Joseph Mark Hayden died on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at St. Marys’ Home in Cherry Hill at the age of 96. Father Hayden attended the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, and after he was ordained in the Camden Diocese in 1948.
He served many parishes in the Camden Diocese and for his last six years served as Pastor of St. Aloysius RC Church in Oaklyn before his retirement in 1991.
He was the brother of Sister Mary Lou, and of the late Sister Jude Miriam Hayden, Edward Hayden and Margaret Schroll (nee Hayden). Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, Jan. 23 at St. Aloysius, located at 37 W. Haddon Avenue in Oaklyn, at 10:30 a.m. A viewing will also be held on Monday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the church. An interment will be held in the St. Josephs Cemetery in Swedesboro, and in lieu of Flowers Memorial contributions may be made to the Priest Retirement Fund c/o Diocese of Camden, 631 Market St. Camden, NJ 08102.
