Providing services and opportunities to individuals with special needs has become a priority for the Moorestown Department of Parks & Recreation. The relationships that the Department has developed over the last 10 years has allowed the Department to expand its services and programs to reach a greater audience in a wider variety of ways.
The 2017 Special Needs Providers Fair is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 29 with a snow date of Sunday, Feb. 12. This year marks the 3rd Annual Special Needs Providers Fair which has become the premier event of its kind in southern New Jersey. This event is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. With more than 40 providers available to the hundreds of individuals and families who attend this event, the Moorestown Recreation Special Needs Providers Fair is a source of information and hope for individuals with special needs and their families.
This year, the third floor of the Church Street Recreation Center will be filled with a variety of providers whose service cover everything from service companions and legal representation to educational facilities and therapeutic riding. With the special needs population growing and aging, the need for a wider variety of services and greater opportunities for families to seek help is essential. From state agencies to private businesses and consultants, the variety of services provided to the special needs community is unparalleled.

The Department continues its commitment to providing programs for individuals with special needs through the variety of programs available at the Center. Social Skills classes begin on Sunday, January 21 for first, second and third graders and fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Additionally, Creative Connections will begin on Saturday, January 21 and will run through Sunday, March 11. This weekly meeting, from 11 a.m. until noon, will be held on the third floor of the Recreation Center for high school and young adults, exceptional learners to age 21. This amazing program has been able to retain its affordable $25 registration fee due to the generosity of the Monica Buckley Foundation.
