Gloucester Township fire severely damages home

The fire in the Broadmoar section displaced two residents.

The following information comes from the Gloucester Township Police Department:

On Jan. 3, 2017 at approximately 5:27 PM, Gloucester Township Police Communications received a report of an active dwelling fire in the 600 Block of Chatham Road in the Broadmoar section of Gloucester Township.

Officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department arrived a short time later and observed a heavy smoke condition coming from the structure and had verified that the residents were not home at the time.

Firefighters from the Chews Landing, Glendora, Magnolia, Runnemede and Deptford Fire Departments as well as the Deer Park Fire Company Rehab/Canteen Unit responded and extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries to emergency personnel or citizens during the incident.

Two adults were displaced by the fire and will be staying with family. The incident is currently under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Department, Gloucester Township Fire District #2 Fire Marshal and the Camden County Fire Marshal’s Office. At this time, it appears the fire was non-suspicious.
