Cherry Hill Police looking for bank robber
Cherry Hill Police and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are looking for a suspect who allegedly robbed the Republic Bank on Route 70 in Cherry Hill last Thursday. The robbery took place around 8:30 a.m. The suspect passed a demand note to a teller and received an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect left the scene on foot. There were no injuries during the incident.
Cherry Hill nonprofit Carz N’ Toyz delivering toys, happiness to children
More than 40 years after a sad experience where his son, Saverio, had his personal items stolen during a visit to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Cherry Hill resident Sam Lacroce decided to start a nonprofit organization to bring joy to kids across the area. He and his friends began Carz N’ Toyz. The organization holds an annual toy run where more than 1,000 toys are delivered to Virtua Hospital.
Cherry Hill Council approves three bond ordinances
Cherry Hill Township Council unanimously adopted three bond ordinances totaling approximately $9 million at its meeting last Monday. The bond ordinances allow the township to borrow up to $8.79 million to complete various improvement projects over the next year. All of the project were included in the township’s Fiscal Year 2017 budget adopted in September.
Two pedestrians struck by vehicle near Greentree Road
Two women were injured last Tuesday after they were struck by a vehicle along Greentree Road near Route 70. The accident took place shortly after 7 p.m. The two women were transported to Cooper Hospital after the accident. Police say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and did not appear to be impaired. The accident caused Greentree Road to be closed for nearly five hours.
Voorhees police officer gives a helping hand to a Cherry Hill resident
Cherry Hill resident Anthony Maggio, 15, rode his bike to Dunkin Donuts one day in September. When he left the store, Maggio discovered his bike had been stolen. A few days later, Voorhees Police Officer Michael Perez was assigned to Maggio’s case. What happened in the weeks to come stunned Maggio and his family as he received a free bike from Perez.
