In Moorestown
- Residents looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday weekend can enjoy a family-friendly event at Barnes & Noble Booksellers located at 1311 Nixon Drive on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. The event will consist of a storytime featuring the Moana and the Ocean picture book based on the upcoming Disney Animation Studios’ film Moana. In this engaging picture book Moana’s unique relationship with the ocean is playfully interacted with stylized artwork. - Additionally on Saturday, the Moorestown Knights of Columbus are asking for community help to remove the old missals from their hardback protecting covers and inserting the new missals. The project will begin around 8 a.m. in the main Church. The work must be completed so that the new missals are in place for the Sat evening mass. Around South Jersey
· Pennsauken will hold its 36th annual Holiday Parade on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The parade will begin at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Facility and end at 44th Street. · A number of local communities are encouraging people to shop local on Saturday in honor of Small Business Saturday. In Haddonfield, there will be additional activities to enjoy in addition to shopping. There will entertainment downtown and horse-drawn carriage rides from noon to 3 p.m. Residents can also purchase town-wide gift certificates at a discounted rate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. At the Jersey Shore
· Residents can get into the holiday spirit in Avalon this weekend as the Borough of Avalon host Snowfest Saturday on Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free event will include a polar extreme obstacle course, rock wall, rides, iceless ice-skating, a bounce house, photos with Santa Claus, games and more. · Skaters can hit the ice rink in Sea Isle City on Saturday as the town hosts its Holiday Extravaganza. The event takes place at Excursion Park, located at 40th Street and Pleasure Avenue. The ice rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be entertainment from noon to 1 p.m. and kids can visit with Santa Claus from 1 to 3 p.m. Guests are encouraged to shop local on Saturday and enter a raffle to win a flat screen television. In Philadelphia
· One of the biggest holiday events in Philadelphia takes place on Saturday. The city will host its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall, located at 1401 JFK Boulevard. The city’s 38-foot tree will be lit at about 5:30 p.m. The tree is decorated with a number of iconic symbols from around the city and will include thousands of lights. · Also on Saturday, get some holiday shopping done as the Franklin Flea Market opens its doors. The market is located at the historic Strawbridge’s Building at 801 Market Street in Philadelphia. The market primarily focuses on top vendors of antique, vintage and up-cycled furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles, antiques, and delicious fresh cooked or small batch pre-packaged food, as well as a select number of jewelry, art, and handmade goods by local artisans and designers.
