Incumbent Republicans Linda Bobo and Irwin Edelson, along with newcomer Kurt Folcher, each won a seat on Mt. Laurel Township Council.
It was a good night for Republicans in Mt. Laurel on Election Day, as incumbents Linda Bobo and Irwin Edelson, along with newcomer Kurt Folcher, were elected to three open seats on township council.
The wins by Bobo, the current mayor, Edelson and Folcher mean council will once again have a full, five-seat Republican majority.
Bobo described council as having worked to provide the township with a government that “lives within its means” while also being able to improve parks, roads, the library and public safety.
“I am humbled by the overwhelming support of our entire team by the residents of Mt. Laurel,” Bobo said. “Irwin, Kurt and I look forward to getting to work to make government more efficient and continuing our progress of making our community an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”
Edelson echoed Bobo’s sentiments, and he described serving the Mt. Laurel community on council as one of the greatest honors in his life.
“Voters have entrusted us to ensure that every tax dollar is invested wisely and continue to provide an accountable government that addresses the concerns of our fellow residents,” Edelson said.
Edelson went on to say he couldn’t thank voters enough for giving him the opportunity to continue working on their behalf.
Folcher reflected on visiting thousands of homes in Mt. Laurel during the campaign.
“I met incredible volunteers and local residents with the dedication and fresh ideas necessary to plan a brighter future for Mt. Laurel,” Folcher said.
Folcher also said he was looking forward to ensuring residents of both parties have “more say” in their local government.
“I look forward to building on the record of success of my running mates, Linda Bobo and Irwin Edelson,” Folcher said. “Together, we will provide a government that budgets like our families do and finds innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems we face.”
Lone Democratic candidate Kareem Pritchett, Sr. could not be reached for comment.
However, Pritchett did post a message regarding his loss on his campaign Facebook page in which he described remaining humble and true to his character in the face of “adversity, mudslinging and smear campaigns.”
“If you see me out in our community, please come speak with me,” Pritchett wrote. “The election was one I am proud of with limited funding and no mass mailers. I will continue to be involved. I truly appreciate those that lent their support and time.”
The most recent unofficial vote totals from the Burlington County Board of Elections were as follows: Bobo with 10,628 votes, Edelson with 10,592 votes, Folcher with 10,289 votes and Pritchett with 7,934.
