Indian Mills Home and School Association welcomes students, teachers back to school

On Friday, Sept. 16, the Indian Mills Home and School Association (HSA) laid out the red carpet as they welcomed all the students, parents and teachers of the district back to another school year. Under the leadership of its new president, Barry Epps, the HSA organized games, a dunk tank and an inflatable fun house to keep everyone involved. But, the real hit was the barbeque spread with an endless line of hungry revelers being satisfied with burgers, dogs, light desserts and drinks of all sort.

Epps and his volunteers, consisting of parents and teachers, passed out food, manned the dunk tank, and helped keep things going into the early hours of

dusk. Children of all ages were just having fun; playing in the Gaga pit, bouncing in the fun house, participating in hula hoop contests, or trying to hit the bull’s-eye and dunk the unlucky volunteer. Students from years past, now in their high school, college, or career years, came back with their younger siblings and sought out old teachers to just say “hi” and pass on their latest news. The crowd was a satisfying comment on the care and passion of HSA’s efforts to provide the best possible welcome back celebration.
