High school sports roundup: Cherry Hill East girls’ soccer wins first game of 2016, boys’ soccer also victorious
Cherry Hill East girls’ tennis also won against Moorestown High School to remain undefeated in 2016.
The Cherry Hill High School East girls’ soccer team earned its first win of the 2016 season on Tuesday, as they pulled off an upset against Paul VI, 2–1, at home.
The Cougars got goals from Lexi Schaffer and Faith Rosenblatt in the victory. Sam Bourne made six saves in the game. The Cougars scored first in the game and were able to close out the win in the second half.
Girls’ tennis edges past Moorestown to stay undefeated
In a rematch of the Moorestown Classic championship match earlier this month, Cherry Hill East defeated Moorestown for the second time this season, 3–2. Sarah Jang and Rebekah Colacot clinched the victory for the Cougars with a three set win at first doubles over Camilla Hoz de Vila and Emma Regovich. Stephanie Yanosov and Pallavi Goculdas recorded the Cougars’ other two points. The win improves Cherry Hill East’s record to 10–0.
Boys’ soccer snags second win of the season
The Cherry Hill East boys’ soccer team won big on Tuesday on the road as they cruised past Paul VI, 5–1. Cherry Hill East sprinted out to a 3–0 lead in the first half on goals from Rob Sparrow, Andrew Lochbihler and Mark Baseshore. Baseshore would add a goal in the second half and also had an assist. Evan Saidel assisted on two Cougar goals.
