The club is offering a free education session called Understanding Prostate Cancer on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. The session will feature oncologist Dr. David Horvick. Horvick has been recognized as a “Top Physician” by South Jersey Magazine and “Top Doc” by U.S. News & World Report. His overview will cover prostate cancer risk factors, prevention tips and treatment options.

“Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it,” Horvick said. “In fact, more than 2.5 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point are still alive today. The key is awareness, education, early detection and treatment.”

The American Cancer Society recommends that men be offered annual prostate cancer screening starting at age 50. High-risk men may be offered screening even earlier.

The program is free but registration is requested. Call 1–888-LOURDES to register.
