The Moorestown Library presents Science Olympics

Children ages 5–12 are invited to join the Moorestown Library as it presents Science Olympics on Friday afternoons in July. No registration is required for this series of energizing science shows.

Mad Science presents: Marvels of Motion

Come one, come all…to the Mad Science Physics Olympics on Friday, July 15 at 1:30 p.m. Here, participants will learn all about the fundamentals of moving science including Newton’s three Laws of Motion and other sorts of surprises including dancing, chemically assisted football tossing and even the amazing “space-age” rocket packs. Children will also have a chance to compete in wacky events while the mad scientists’ prepare to unveil their top-secret motion machine. Come and discover the science behind some of your favorite Olympic sports and find out why this show, sponsored by the Friends of the Moorestown Library, is such a “blast.”

Mad Science presents: Fire and Ice

On Friday, July 22 at 1:30 p.m. participants will head to the starting line of science to learn the basics of how to make a scientific hypothesis and test it using experimentation. They will witness experiments involving air pressure, flash paper, eggs, Bernoulli’s Principle and dry ice. Yet, science isn’t a spectator sport and therefore a few audience members will have a chance to participate in some of the experiments.

Sciencetellers presents: Power and Energy

Sciencetellers, or storytelling scientists, will help get things moving on Friday, July 29 at 1:30 p.m. as they make objects fly, spin, move and soar while telling a series of stories to energize the summer. Participants will throw on a lab coat and buckle in to experience the science of power and energy through exciting, hands-on experiments that will have them laughing, learning and having fun. Enjoy this energetic adventure and discover what makes humans move and what powers the world.
