The third grade students at Indian Mills School will be creating a museum that showcases the historical sites of Shamong Township.
On Tuesday, May 24 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the community is invited to attend Indian Mill School’s “Night at the Shamong Museum.” The event will be held in the cafeteria of the school. Small groups of students will represent each marker and educate community members about the many markers. Classroom Close Up, NJ will be in attendance to film our event, which will be aired this upcoming fall.
On Feb. 22, the third graders boarded a bus and visited the sites of the many historical markers located throughout town. A knowledgeable docent met students at Atsion Mansion and provided a guided tour around the grounds of the mansion and Stage Coach Road. Students used iPads and field notes to photograph and record important facts that occurred at each site.
