The following information was provided by the Cherry Hill Police Department.
Cherry Hill Police responded to nearly forty calls for disabled motorists during Winter Storm Jonas, but the call on Saturday, Jan. 23 at approximately 8 p.m. was unlike the rest.
During the height of the blizzard, police arrived at Route 70 and Brace Road for the report of a disabled motorist. Police located a 20-year-old woman from Cherry Hill operating a 2007 Lexus. The vehicle was stranded on a large pile of snow yet the driver declined any police assistance.
Officers noticed the rear license plate was not properly mounted to the vehicle. Upon closer inspection, a second license plate appeared to have been strategically placed on top to cover the first tag. Police checked both registrations and learned the Lexus was entered as stolen from Winslow Township.
The woman, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. She was released on a summons with a pending Camden County Superior Court date scheduled for Feb. 2
