Troop 65 adult volunteers are honored at White Horse District Recognition Dinner

On Dec. 3, three Troop 65 adult volunteers were honored at the 2015 White Horse District Recognition Dinner.

Eight members from the committee and Scout master staff attended to support the volunteers who received awards at the dinner.

Former Troop 65 member Larry Lyford (accompanied by his wife Pat) received a Lifetime Achievement Award. His more than 60 years of volunteer activities include: Troop 65 Committee; district advancement committee; district chairman (Cooper District); district FOS presenter corps; unit commissioner; council e-board (SNJC); Shop Rite LPGA tournament volunteer for many years; frequent folder of council mailings; Veteran — Vietnam; father of two Eagle Scouts; and youth member of Troop 67.

Former Troop 65 Scoutmaster Tim Sheehan was one of two recipients of the District Award of Merit. Sheehan has been in Scouting for over 35 years beginning with working on the staff at Camp Sequassen in Connecticut through his current position on the Eagle review board of the White Horse District. His wife Sue and son, Eagle Scout Riley, enjoyed the moment. Daughter Molly is a Girl Scout Silver Award winner.

Lisa Quanci received the Unit Most Valuable Volunteer award for her tireless efforts to organize Troop outings such as urban hikes, bike and ski trips and her guidance to Scouts in the Religious Emblem program. In addition, Quanci opens up her kitchen as the counselor for the cooking merit badge, organized t-shirt design contests, and actively encouraged Scouts to participate in the recent Carry the Fallen fundraiser for Veterans.
