The Haddonfield Branch Managers are offering a training workshop for residents interested in learning about and assisting with tree pruning. The Branch Managers is a volunteer street tree pruning and tree advocacy group sponsored by the Haddonfield Shade Tree Commission. This hands-on outdoor workshop will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at the corner of Heritage and West Atlantic Avenue in Haddonfield. There is a $10 cost per person, payable in cash or check, which includes training materials and the use of tools.
This short-course is the entry to joining the Branch Managers. Now starting their fourth season, the Branch Managers meet regularly to assist the Borough by pruning small shade trees, removing excess mulch and ivy and trimming girdling roots. They also document the status of the Borough trees and communicate with Public Works about trees requiring additional attention. All work is done at street level and fully supervised.
In addition to volunteers who want to participate in pruning, the Branch Managers also need educators for their outreach programs on Earth Day, at the Haddonfield Farmers Market and other events, and organizers for the regular work days and other activities.
