Male strikes another in head with an iron during dispute over illegal sale of prescription drugs in this week’s Mt. Laurel Police report

The following incidents are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police:

On Nov. 11 at 11:20 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road near Academy Drive. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 53, of Evesham. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On Nov. 11 at 7:10 p.m. Mount Laurel Police responded to Kennedy University Hospital Stratford to meet with a subject in the emergency room who reported being assaulted at a hotel in Mt. Laurel. The investigation revealed that a male, age 23, of Lindenwold was at a hotel on Route 73 where he got into a dispute with a hotel resident, age 28. The dispute was over the illegal sale of prescription drugs. During the altercation the resident struck the 23-year-old in the head with an iron causing injury and threatened him with a knife. The resident was later located at the hotel and arrested by Mt. Laurel Police. He was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, and weapons offenses. Bail was set at $475,000, no 10 percent option, and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail. On Nov. 12 at approximately 1 p.m. the 23-year-old male was arrested at police headquarters and charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Nov. 9 a 4:40 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Mt. Laurel Road. The investigation revealed that a van driven by a male, age 53, of Maple Shade, was traveling north on Mt. Laurel Road when he struck a pole and fire hydrant near Pheasant Drive. He continued to travel north and eventually ran off of the roadway and crashed into the Mt. Laurel Police Garage. He was transported to Cooper Hospital, Camden by helicopter due to possible internal injuries. He was later released from the hospital and charged with driving while intoxicated and several other motor vehicle violations. He was released pending a court hearing.

An employee of Shoprite on Nixon Drive reported that on Nov. 8 at 10:40 p.m. he was gathering shopping carts in the parking lot. He was approached by a female who asked him for money. While he was distracted a man exited a nearby vehicle and stole the victim’s Eagles backpack that was sitting in one of the shopping carts. The suspects then drove off. The backpack only contained a bus schedule.

On Nov. 8 at 8:50 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted an investigation in to wanted person staying at a hotel on Route 73. The investigation led to a room where two subjects were arrested for drug offenses. The wanted person was not on location. A male, age 29, of Mt. Laurel and a female, age 32, of Westampton, were both charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were released pending a court hearing.

On Nov. 8 at 4:10 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hainesport Road near Mount Laurel Road. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 50, of Eastampton. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On Nov. 8 at 3:25 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Fostertown Road. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 28, of Philadelphia. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A guest of a hotel on Crawford Place reported that someone attempted to pry open the door of his vehicle during the overnight hours of Nov. 5 into Nov. 6. The driver’s side door was damaged.

On Nov. 6 at 4:10 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Wawa on North Route 73 for a shoplifting report. The investigation revealed that a suspect went behind the sales counter and stole eleven cartons of cigarettes valued at $900. He was last seen running to the rear of the store. He was described as a black male, 6’ tall, thin build, with a goatee.
