When memory loss strikes an individual or family member, the fear of dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease becomes an elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about. The Cherry Hill Public Library wants people to start the conversation by learning about memory loss this November.
The library will screen the film “Still Alice” on Monday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The movie, also a novel by Lisa Genova, takes viewers through the heartbreaking journey of a young wife, mother and career woman suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each screening. No registration required.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter will discuss facts about the seven stages of Alzheimer’s Disease, its symptoms, causes and risk factors. This is an opportunity for anyone curious about different types of memory loss to hear from experts. The information session will also address the benefits of early detection and how Alzheimer’s affects the brain. The 90-minute session will have time for questions and answers. Registration is required.
