Camden County Library Sets New Spring Book Sale Record at Voorhees

Hundreds of bargain hunters and collectors help set a new two-day record at the Camden County Library’s Spring Book Sale, Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Voorhees branch.

The Camden County Library System reports its recent spring book sale earned the library $17, 905, beating the previous spring sale record of $16, 648.

“We surpassed our previous two-day sale record — set just last spring — by $1,257 or over seven percent,” said Voorhees Branch Manager William Brahms as chief organizer of the sale.

Brahms praised the staff and volunteers who worked to make the sale possible. “We had over 75 staff and volunteers work on the sale during the year.

“When the sale started on Friday morning, over 250 people were standing in line and came through the doors during just the first five to ten minutes. And the stream of customers seeking bargains remained steady throughout the two days,” Brahms said.

He predicts the library’s next sale in the fall, a three-day affair, will attract even more book lovers, bargain hunters and collectors. The volume of material sold and moved keeps going up.

“I believe the demise of brick and mortar stores and chains like Boarders is creating a growing demand for the quality materials we offer,” Brahms said. “It’s all for a good cause and definitely helps the library. That’s why we invest so much time and effort into each sale.”
