“Songs for Sara: A Summer Soiree benefit” will be fun for the whole family and will feature two outstanding vocalists, tenor Cody Austin and soprano Melissa Perry. Two one-hour cabaret-style shows, at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., will be held on Friday, June 19, at Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road.
Austin and Perry will perform favorite and fun romantic songs by Irving Berlin, Gershwin, Bernstein, Puccini, Tosti, and Rogers and Hammerstein, plus some Disney.
A dessert and fruit buffet plus punch and Starbucks coffee and tea will be included in the $35 ticket price. Ticket purchase in advance is strongly suggested by going to www.eventbrite.com or by calling (856) 354–1546. Tickets will also be sold at the door for cash or check only and at espressit coffee house, 18 Haddon Ave., Haddon Township.
All proceeds will benefit Sara Ann Kronrot, an 11-year-old Collingswood resident with severe cerebral palsy. Sara, who is wheelchair-bound, must receive nourishment through a feeding tube and, to survive, must have her throat suctioned every 10 minutes around the clock. Her care is so intensive that her parents, vocalist Perry and pianist/conductor Hugh Kronrot, are unable to work full-time even with the part-time professional nursing care that Sara receives. Medical and other bills for Sara are continuously high and can be covered only with fundraisers like this concert.
Those who cannot attend and wish to help financially are asked to send checks made out to Collingswood Cares/ Sara Fund and mailed to Friends of Sara, P.O. Box 172, Collingswood, N.J. 08108. Or donations may be made online through Paypal at www.friendsofsara.com/waystohelp. In addition, the family is starting a GoFundMe site that donors can check out in the near future. All donations are tax-deductible.
