The Tabernacle Township Education Foundation Is Back

The newly formed Education Foundation of Tabernacle Township is off and running. It has bestowed its first grant with its sponsorship of the elementary school’s READS program’s year-end pep-rally. The READS program encourages students to read over the summer, and the pep rally celebrates the success of last summer’s participants and kicks off this summer’s program.

“We needed to revive the foundation for Tabernacle Township,” said Judy Sailer, President of the Foundation. “Other districts have Foundations and they are able to support the students and teachers through financial contributions that the school cannot receive or provide at times. As a non-profit we can bring in funders who care about education and the development of children to our community”.

The Foundation’s goal is to help staff enhance and enrich the school curriculum with programs/projects that would not otherwise be funded by the school district, state or federal education budgets.

The first fundraising event for the Foundation will be held on Saturday June 6 with the Camden Riversharks at Campbell’s Field. Join your friends and neighbors for a fun night out as you watch the Camden River Sharks take on Long Island. In addition, enjoy a spectacular fireworks display at the end of the game. The game starts at 5:45 p.m.

A portion of our ticket sales goes directly to the Education Foundation, and tickets are on sale now for $12 per person at www.riversharks.com. Select “Riversharks Fundraising Log-In” and enter group code “Tabernacle” to purchase your tickets. Tickets must be purchased in advance in order to benefit the Foundation.

Another fun event to watch for is the first annual Tabernacle Community Day and 5K/Fun Run, which will be held in the fall. This event is being planned in conjunction with Tabernacle’s Cub Scout Pack 439, and will coincide with the Scouts’ Annual Touch-a-Truck event. Plans are well underway for this exciting day of food, friends and fun, and any community groups that are interested in participating in any way please email [email protected].

Members of the Education Foundation are parents and grandparents of students, local business owners and tax payers who want to see the educational opportunities for youth in our area expanded. Meetings are open and volunteers are welcome to join at any time.
