Hospice Volunteers Recognized

Five Samaritan hospice volunteers were handpicked to become mentors to newly trained patient/family support volunteers. This special group was chosen because of their exceptional knowledge and understanding of hospice, and the role of the hospice volunteer.

Patient/Family Support volunteers visit Samaritan patients and families in their homes, at our Samaritan Inpatient Hospice Center in Mt. Holly, or in long-term care facilities. They support our patients and their family caregivers through companionship, reading, writing letters, helping with light housework, playing cards, sharing stories, and acting as a friend or neighbor.
