Pedal for Promise

This years 10th annual Pedal for Promise Bike Ride will be starting at Olsen middle school. On May 9 come join us in supporting UrbanPromise in Camden.

Twenty-six years ago, the vision and mission of UrbanPromise was conceived in a church basement in East Camden, NJ. A small group of college missionaries created a summer camp for neighborhood children, providing a safe, loving, fun and creative place for local youth to escape dangerous city streets.

The response from the community was overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Young people attended in droves, demonstrating a hunger to engage in activities that challenged academic, spiritual and social growth. UrbanPromise has since diversified our programs to include two schools, job training, after-school programs, boat building, expeditionary and experiential learning, college tours, faith development opportunities, and a host of other activities. But the core of our organization will always be about relationships and the message that every child and teen is wonderfully created in the image of God.

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

Pedal for Promise offers 3 mileage options (fifteen miles, thirty miles, or metric century) for cyclists of all abilities and ages, from families to serious cyclists. Each course begins and ends at Olson Middle School and loops through scenic Burlington County, NJ. The ride offers stocked rest stops, SAG support, an event jersey (for those that have registered prior to April 27), lunch at the finish, and exciting fundraising incentives.

WHY DO WE RIDE?

We are passionate about the UrbanPromise mission: to equip Camden children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, and spiritual growth. We pedal to support our Promise to the youth of Camden.
