Philly Five art exhibit coming to Medford inĀ April
The Philly Five, a group of artists that met over 15 years ago while attending Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, are exhibiting a diverse selection of oil paintings and otherĀ works.
The exhibiting artists are Susan Barnes, Tony Cirineo, Patrick Monaghan, Doris Peltzman and Reta Sweeney. Each has a distinctive style and their own preferred subject matter, although they all paint a variety of subjects.
Barnes is best known for her sailboat and shore scenes in oil and her monoprints that use gelatin as the printing plate. Cirineo is known for his boldly colorful watercolors as well as oils. Monaghanās landscapes and still life in oil and pastel show sensitivity. He uses each medium with equal facility. Peltzman is best known for her loose brushwork in her still life paintings that are filled with color and her quirky beach people that make you smile. She also loves to experiment painting on various surfaces. Sweeney paints oils of beautifully composed still life as well as portraits and figures, all with a certain sensitive color.
The exhibit is made possible with the assistance of Tracey Femiano from the Medford Art Center and is located in the gallery of the Medford Memorial Community Center. The exhibit runs from April 10 through MayĀ 31.
There will be a reception Sunday, April 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Come out see the show and meet theĀ artists.
