The following report is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:
A Sewell man suspected of vehicle theft was taken into custody following a police pursuit early morning Feb. 26 that ended in Shamong.
The incident began on Tuckerton Road in Evesham around 4:10 a.m. when Evesham Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a Chevy Tahoe reported stolen from a Wawa parking lot in Cherry Hill Township. The operator refused to pull over after the officer activated his overhead lights and sirens.
The vehicle finally came to a stop on a dirt road off of Route 206 in Shamong Township, at which time the male driver exited the vehicle and was apprehended by officers.
Arrested:
A male, age 42, of Sewell, was charged with second degree eluding, and third degree receiving stolen property. He was turned over to the Cherry Hill Police Department.
