Kevin McCloy sworn in as new member of the Tabernacle Board of Education

The new year brought a new face to the Tabernacle Board of Education as the board’s annual reorganization meeting was held on Jan. 5.

Kevin McCloy along with returning incumbents Megan Jones and Stephen Price took their oaths as all three were sworn in for three-year terms. McCloy was the leading vote getter in November’s election with 1,112 votes. Jones and Price had 966 and 953 respectively.

Michael Lee was the sole nominee to once again serve as board president as was Geneva Moore as vice president. Both expressed their gratitude to the board for their respective nominations.

In other news:

  • The board approved the following dates for its monthly meetings in 2015: Tuesday, Jan. 20, Tuesday, Feb. 17, Monday, March 16, Monday, April 20, Monday, May 18, Monday, June 15, Monday, July 20, Monday, Aug. 17, Monday, Sept. 21, Monday, Oct. 19, Monday, Nov. 16 and Monday, Dec. 21. All meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the media center of Olson Middle School, 132 New Road.
  • Board member John Bulina expressed his interest in having the board revisit previous discussion over the necessity of the board’s July meeting. It his belief that much of what is accomplished at the meeting in July could be done if the meeting was held later in June or earlier in August. Lee said it was an idea the board would continue to discuss.
  • The Tabernacle Township PTA’s January 26th event will require more than just a time commitment. It will also require the ability to ball.“We’re excited to bring in show basketball team, the Harlem Wizards, again this year. The Wizards will be playing a team made up of teachers from throughout the Seneca sending district, which should be a lot of fun,” PTA president Jenn Quartarone said. The Harlem Wizards are a professional entertainment basketball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters in that they bring a combination of basketball skill and fun for the audience. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be found on the PTA’s page on the district’s website.
