Evesham Police Department announces success of first “Shop with a Cop” program

The Evesham Police Department is proud to announce the success of its first “Shop with a Cop” Program.

On Dec. 13, members of the Evesham Police Department, with partnership from the Evesham Police Foundation, participated in the department’s first “Shop with a Cop” program. The Evesham Police Foundation is comprised of local Evesham Township businessman and women, who volunteered their own time to raise in excess of $8,000 in funds to support this program.

Members of the Evesham Police Department accompanied children in need from the community, who were selected in cooperation with officials from the local school district. Officers transported the children and their parents to the Walmart department store in Marlton to go on a shopping spree for their family members. At the conclusion of the shopping spree, the officers and families traveled to the Gibson House Community Center to wrap the gifts, share in holiday cheer and meet with Santa.

The program is designed to provide children in need in our community with the opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for themselves and their family members during these difficult economic times, when they would otherwise go without. It also provides these children the opportunity to spend some quality time withpolice officers and staff members of the Evesham Police Department “up close and personal” in a positive and non-confrontational environment.

The Evesham Police Department would like to thank the Walmart Corporation and Sal’s Pizzeria for their support in this endeavor. The Evesham Police Department is especially grateful for the fundraising efforts of the Evesham Police Foundation and residential and business partners, who have made this, endeavor a great success for thr community. The current Evesham Police Foundation members are: Bill Gelerent of Oak Mortgage, Mark McKenna of Pat McKenna Realtors, Dr. Carlyn Phucas Orthodontics, Michael Barth- Retired Chief of Police and Sanford Student- Evesham Township School Board Member.

The Evesham Police Department is committed to serving our residents and is willing to go above and beyond to ensure they have a happy holiday season. The department believes that everyone in the community deserves to have memorable experiences during this festive time of year.
