The Haddonfield Branch Managers are offering a hands-on training short course tree pruning techniques and tools — a two hour, outdoor workshop offered twice, on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. to noon and Sunday, Dec. 7 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Training will take place in Wheeler Park at Heritage Road and West Atlantic Avenue. There is a $10 cost per person, including training materials and the use of tools. A follow-on workshop, to be offered twice in January, will focus on tree selection, planting and care.
This short-course is the entry to joining the Branch Managers, a volunteer street tree pruning and advocacy group sponsored by the Haddonfield Shade Tree Commission. Now starting their fourth season, the Branch Managers meet regularly to prune smaller borough shade trees, remove excess mulch and ivy and trim girdling roots. All work is done at street level and fully supervised. The Branch Managers also need educators for our outreach programs at Earth Day, the Haddonfield Farmers Market and other town-wide events as well as organizers for our regular workdays and other activities.
