Veterans Wall of Honor was unveiled Oct. 20 at Voorhees Town Center

Voorhees Township honored those who fought for our freedom with the unveiling of the Veterans Wall of Honor. The ceremony was held on Monday, Oct. 20 with a program in the Macy’s Court on the lower level of a packed Voorhees Town Center.

According to Larry Spellman, the administrator for Voorhees Township, there were 200 chairs set out and an additional 100 were brought out to accommodate the crowd. But even then, people were standing.

At the ceremony, Mayor Michael Mignogna made a speech before the unveiling of the wall. The Wall of Honor is located in Town Hall. On the wall are 219 names and pictures of veterans, including two husbands and wives. There are also pictures of veterans with family, friends and even famous people such as Queen Elizabeth and Bob Hope.

“It was very touching,” Spellman said about the ceremony.

The township expects the Wall of Honor to be a lasting tribute that will grow annually with the addition of other local heroes. To see the wall, visit the Voorhees Town Hall, located at the Voorhees Town Center.
