REAL Center preparing to open in Cherry Hill

The Regional Enrichment and Learning Center has joined First Children Services and have moved to a new location in Cherry Hill. The REAL Center, formerly in Laurel Springs, is home to their Transitions Program, a program dedicated to students with anxiety disorders that prevent them from participating in a district school setting. Students come to the REAL Center from all over South Jersey for instruction that follows the Common Core and New Jersey Core Content Standards while receiving individual and group counseling sessions on site. The REAL Center also offers educational support and enrichment programs to school districts throughout New Jersey.

The REAL Center recently joined First Children, which was established by Joseph J. Hess in 2009 after having worked in the field for over 25 years. Frustrated by the lack of coordination and accountability in the field, Hess looked to establish a new approach to serve children with special needs, which would focus on serving children in natural environments like public schools, collaborating with districts, professionals and parents to provide services that make a real difference, and remaining accountable for outcomes for children and districts alike.

All are welcome to join First Children Services and the REAL Center for our grand opening in the Cherry Hill location on Nov. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. Mayor Chuck Cahn will welcome First Children Services and the REAL Center to Cherry Hill by cutting the ribbon at 1 p.m. The center is located at 1256 Marlkress Road. Refreshments will be served.
